Football, the ultimate test of determination, sportsmanship, and teamwork. I love this sport. People make assumptions that to play football, you have to be big, strong, and tall. Well, I am none of those things. When I walk on to the field, I always think about how people say I cant do it, or I'll get crushed, and I use that as determination. I started football when I was in fourth grade, playing for my town team, The Lexington Bedford Hanscom Raiders. It was a great experience. Our team ended the year undefeated, 8-0, and I bonded with some new people that I didn't even know prior to the season. I loved being able to go out, and fight not only for myself, but for my teammates, my coaches, and my town or school. I played played for the Raiders in 4th and 5th grade, before leaving them for a year, and starting my Fenn football career in 6th grade. I played in 6th grade, but we had only one game, and although we won, I felt like I needed to play more games. I ended up playing for both the Raiders and Fenn in 7th grade, and I was able to play 9 games over the course of the year. Playing at Fenn compared to LBH (Lexington Bedford Hanscom), had some similarities, but it also had some differences. In town, I was playing in a weight protected league, so I was never truly the smallest kid on the field, and sometimes may have been even big compared to the kids I was playing with. At Fenn, you can be as big can be, so there were some bigger kids out there. Although the kids sizes were a little bit different, it was not like this new style was foreign for me, as I still wen out there with around the same intensity, pumped and ready to play. In eighth grade, I went away from town once again and decided to play for the Fenn Varsity team. Fenn Varsity was a good experience, and although we lost every game of the season, I was able to get myself acclimated to playing against some of the biggest kids I have ever played, and almost always being one of the smallest kids out on the field. Overall, football has almost always been my favorite sport, and nothing can motivate you more than going out and playing for someone besides yourself.
